Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: necro- comb. form, -troph comb. form.
Etymology: < necro- comb. form + -troph comb. form, after necrotrophic adj. Compare German nekrotroph , adjective (1946 in the passage translated in quot. 1950).
Plant Pathology.
A plant parasite, esp. a fungus, that feeds on dead tissue of its host.
