Etymology: < nice adj. + but conj. + dim adj.Popularized in the name of Tim Nice-But-Dim, a good-natured, upper-class simpleton character in the BBC television series Harry Enfield's Television Programme (1990–2) and Harry Enfield & Chums (1994–7).
British colloquial.
Designating a person regarded as foolish, incompetent, and ingenuous, while also being utterly good-natured and unmalicious.
