Etymology: < post-classical Latin natatilis able to swim (late 2nd or early 3rd cent. in Tertullian; compare classical Latin natātilis swimming creature (Apuleius)) < classical Latin natāt- , past participial stem of natāre to swim (see natant adj.) + -ilis -ile suffix.
Obsolete. rare.
