Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Neuroglia.
Etymology: < German Neuroglia (1859 in the passage translated in quot. 1860 at main sense) < neuro- neuro- comb. form + Byzantine Greek γλία glue (see glia n.).
Histology.
With singular agreement: the supportive non-neuronal tissue of the nervous system; = glia n. With plural agreement: cells of this tissue.
