Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: neuro- comb. form, -plasm comb. form.
Etymology: < neuro- comb. form + -plasm comb. form.The substance denoted in sense 2 was apparently first described as German Nervenserum by C. Kupffer (1883 in Sitzungsber. der Math.-Physikal. Klasse der Königl. Bayerischen Akad. der Wissensch. zu München 13 475).
