Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: ab- prefix, judge v.
Etymology: < ab- prefix + judge v., after classical Latin abiūdicāre (see abjudicate v.). Compare earlier abjudication n. and later abjudicate v. 2, and also earlier adjudge v. 1a(b).
Obsolete.
transitive. To take (a thing) away from a person by judgement. Cf. adjudge v. 1a(b).
