Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: neo- comb. form, Malthusian adj.
Etymology: < neo- comb. form + Malthusian adj.Attributed to Dr S. Van Houten, former prime minister of Holland, and Vice-President of the Malthusian League, who apparently suggested it to Dr C. R. Drysdale, founder of the League, as a term distinct from Malthusian, to distinguish advocacy of the use of contraception rather than the postponement of marriage.
