单词 | neutrinosphere |
释义 | neutrinospheren. Astronomy. In theories of supernovae: a layer at the surface of a collapsing star in which the stellar material is transparent to neutrinos, and from which neutrinos can be emitted. ΚΠ 1980 S. A. Colgate & A. G. Petschek in Astrophysical Jrnl.: Lett. 236 117/2 Neutrinos are trapped above densities of 1011 g cm−3, and so we will consider this to define the region from which the neutrino flux is emitted (neutrinosphere, in analogy to photosphere). 1992 S. P. Maran Astron. & Astrophysics Encycl. 490/1 At the ‘neutrinosphere’, that is, the surface that is located one mean free path for neutrinos above the surface of the star, the thermal emission of these neutrinos will carry away the neutron star binding energy in a period of a few seconds. This is a new entry (OED Third Edition, September 2003; most recently modified version published online March 2022). < n.1980 |
