释义 | Neoregelian. Botany. A genus of epiphytic plants of the family Bromeliaceae, having rosettes of rigid, spiny leaves (often variegated or brightly coloured) surrounding a central cluster of flowers, which are native to tropical South America but cultivated elsewhere for ornament; (also neoregelia) a plant of this genus. ΚΠ 1934 L. B. Smith in Contrib. Gray Herbarium Harvard Univ. 6 civ. 78 It is not allowable to use Aregelia for a genus segregated from typical Nidularium as Mez did. The substitution of Neoregelia for the Aregelia of Mez includes the following new combinations: [etc.]. 1965 J. Kramer Bromeliads v. 63 Most Neoregelias are of medium-size with spreading leaf rosettes. 1975 Country Life 29 May 1384/1 A stunning plant named Guzmannia sanguinaria which has the stiff cartwheel leaf formation of a neoregelia. 1989 Encycl. Brit. VIII. 599/1 Neoregelia leaves are often mottled, marbled, or banded. They form a rosette with small white, blue, or purple flowers deep in the centre of the cup. 1995 Church Times 10 Mar. 16/5 In one garden we saw paths lined with the bromeliad Neoregelia growing naturally as epiphytes on dead treefern trunks which were used as edging.
