Etymology: < classical Latin nepōt-, nepōs (see nephew n.) + -ious suffix. N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (nĭpōu·ʃiəs) /nɪˈpəʊʃ(ɪ)əs/.
Obsolete. rare.
Excessively devoted to one's nephew.

1834 R. Southey Doctor I. 117 We may use the epithet nepotious for those [uncles] who carry this fondness to the extent of doting, and as expressing that degree of fondness it may be applied to William Dove: he was a nepotious uncle.
