Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin nīdificāre.
Etymology: < classical Latin nīdificāre to build a nest < nīdus nest (see nidus n.) + -ficāre -fy suffix. Compare French nidifier (late 12th cent. in Old French).
