Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin nidulant-, nidulans.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin nidulant-, nidulans (J. Elmgren Termini Botanici (1762) 29), specific use of present participle of classical Latin nīdulārī (see nidulate v.).
Botany and Mycology. Now rare or historical.
Esp. of seeds or spores: dispersed throughout a pulpy or downy substance; (also) lying free within a cavity.
