Any of several large Asian catfishes of the genera Pangasius and Pangasianodon (family Pangasiidae) native to the Mekong Delta, where they are farmed and exported as food fishes; spec. Pangasius bocourti. Also more fully basa fish. Cf. panga n.² 1.
