Etymology: < post-classical Latin nigro-, combining form (in e.g. nigromantia nigromance n.) of classical Latin nigr-, niger black (see niger n.¹).Found only in a small number of 19th-cent. formations, none of which is frequently attested.

Zoology and Botany. Obsolete.

Forming words indicating blackness in colour combined with some other quality.
