Origin: A borrowing from Hebrew. Etymon: Hebrew NYLY.
Etymology: < modern Hebrew NYLY (read as nili), acronym < the initial letters of Nēṣaḥ Yiśrā'ēl Lō' Yĕšaqēr the strength of Israel will not lie (1 Samuel 15:29).

A Jewish espionage group active in Turkish-ruled Palestine during the First World War (1914–18). Frequently attributive.
