Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin nolition-, nolitio.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin nolition-, nolitio unwillingness (14th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin nōlle to be unwilling (see nolle prosequi n.) + -ītiō -ition suffix. Compare Middle French, French nolition (1526). Compare volition n. Compare also slightly earlier nolence n., nolency n.
