Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: non- prefix, subscriber n.
Etymology: < non- prefix + subscriber n. Compare later non-subscribe v. Compare also slightly earlier non-subscriver n.
1. Christian Church. A person who fails or refuses to subscribe to a religious creed, practice, etc. Now chiefly historical.In later use often referring to a member of the section of Irish Presbyterians which arose c1720 and opposed the imposition of subscription to the Westminster Confession of 1643.
