释义 | nonillionn.adj. A. n. Originally (esp. in Britain): the cardinal number equal to the ninth power of a million (1054). Now (originally U.S.): the cardinal number equal to the tenth power of a thousand (1030).For the variation in meaning see billion n. and the etymology there.Apparently misunderstood in quot. 1828 (contrast quot. 1854); the dictionary there quoted has billion and trillion, defined as 1012 and 1018 respectively, but no entries for any higher power of ten (quadrillion, etc.) lower than nonillion.
