1999 Speciality Chemicals (Nexis) 19 350/4 When the vapour of butyric, hexoic (caproic) and octoic (caprylic) acids is passed over heated zinc dusts at 280–290°C, the acids are decomposed giving ketones (and aldehydes, etc).
