Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin. Or (ii) a borrowing from German. Etymons: Latin nucleolus; German Nucleolus.
Etymology: Either < post-classical Latin nucleolus nucleolus n., or < German Nucleolus (see nucleolus n.). Compare French nucléole (1844).
Biology. Now rare.
