Etymology: Partly < oblation n. + -ary suffix1, and partly < post-classical Latin oblationarius, adjective and noun (7th cent.) < classical Latin oblātiōn- , oblātiō oblation n. + -ārius -ary suffix1. Compare earlier oblative adj., oblatory adj., and slightly earlier oblational adj.

Chiefly Christian Church. Of, relating to, of the nature of, or suggestive of oblation; spec. designating the person who receives the oblations presented during the celebration of the Eucharist.
