Etymology: < post-classical Latin obnubilation-, obnubilatio (5th cent. in Augustine; from 12th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin obnūbilāt- , past participial stem of obnūbilāre obnubilate v. + -iō -ion suffix1; compare -ation suffix. Compare Middle French, French obnubilation clouding of the mind (1486), clouding of the vision (1858).
Now rare.
The action of darkening or fact of being darkened with or as with a cloud; obscuration; (Medicine) obscuring or clouding of the mind or faculties.
