Etymology: < oct- (in octo- comb. form) + -rain (in quatrain n.), after quatrain n., perhaps partially as a blend. N.E.D. (1902) gives the pronunciation as (ǫ·ktrein) /ˈɒktreɪn/.
Obsolete. rare.
A group of eight lines of verse.
