Etymology: < Bella Coola nux̣alk Bella Coola Valley.The plural form Nuxalkmc is after the Bella Coola plural nux̣alkmx Nuxalk people < nux̣alk + -mx people.

A member of a North American Indian people of the central British Columbia coast, Canada; = Bella Coola n. 1.In early use the component groups of this people were called Bella Coola, and Nuxalk (Nuhalk) was restricted to one of these, the Bella Coola proper: cf. quot. 1910 and notes s.v. Bella Coola n. Nuhalk is increasingly preferred to Bella Coola as the designation for the people as a whole.
