Origin: A borrowing from Nyamwezi. Etymon: Nyamwezi Nyamwezi.
Etymology: < Nyamwezi Nyamwezi, self-designation, lit. ‘people of the moon, (i.e. the west)’ ( < nya- pre-stem element expressing belonging + ŋweezí , myeezí moon), perhaps originally after a name given to the Nyamwezi by a people living further east. Compare Wanyamwezi n. and adj.
