Etymology: < scientific Latin Nymphon (J. C. Fabricius Entomologia Systematica (1794) IV. 417) < Hellenistic Greek νυμϕών bride-chamber (Septuagint) < ancient Greek νύμϕη young bride, marriageable maiden (see nympha n.) + -ών, suffix forming nouns.
