Etymology: < Middle French obsecracion, obsecration (13th cent. in Old French an isolated attestation in sense 1a, subsequently from mid 14th cent.; French obsécration ; 1756 in sense 1b) and its etymon classical Latin obsecrātiōn-, obsecrātiō entreaty, supplication, also specifically as a technical term in rhetoric < obsecrāt- , past participial stem of obsecrāre obsecrate v. + -iō -ion suffix1.
Now rare.
