Etymology: < classical Latin obtrītus, past participle of obterere to bruise, crush, tread under foot < ob- ob- prefix + terere (see trite adj.). Compare slightly later obtrition n. Compare also earlier trite adj.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Bruised or worn; trodden under foot.
