Etymology: < classical Latin olfact-, past participial stem of olfacere to smell (see olfacient n.) + -ive suffix. Compare post-classical Latin olfactivus (c1286 in a British source), Middle French, French olfactif (1503; rare before 18th cent.).
Of or relating to the sense of smell; olfactory.
