Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin omnium, omnis.
Etymology: < classical Latin omnium of all (things, sorts, etc.), genitive plural of omnis all (see omni- comb. form).In sense 1, perhaps influenced by omnium gatherum n. (see quot. 1761 at sense 1a).

a. The aggregate of stock and other interests offered by the Government for each unit of capital subscribed when raising a loan.figurative in quot. 1772. See sense 2.
