Etymology: < classical Latin omnivorus (see omnivorous adj.) + -y suffix3, probably after carnivory n. Compare slightly later herbivory n., and earlier omnivorousness n.
Chiefly Zoology.
The eating of food of both plant and animal origin; omnivorousness.
