Etymology: < classical Latin opera works, plural of oper-, opus (see opus n.) + -meter comb. form2. N.E.D. (1903) gives the pronunciation as (ǫpĕræ·mĭtəɹ) /ɒpəˈræmɪtə(r)/.
Mechanics. Obsolete.
An apparatus for registering the number of revolutions, strokes, or cycles of a mechanism, esp. in a manufacturing process.
