Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin Orthochoanites , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Orthochoanites (see orthochoanite n.) + -ic suffix. Compare slightly later orthochoanite n.
Palaeontology. Now rare.
Having a straight, very short septal neck; (also) relating to or characteristic of the former suborder Orthochoanites of nautiloid cephalopods (see orthochoanite n.).
