Etymology: < ortho- comb. form + -metric comb. form. With sense 2 compare French orthométrique (1889 or earlier). Compare isometric adj.
1. Crystallography. Of or relating to those crystal systems (the cubic, tetragonal, and orthorhombic systems) in which the axes are mutually at right angles. Obsolete.
