Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ordinabilis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin ordinabilis capable of being arranged or set in order (6th cent.; frequently from 13th cent. in British sources), capable of being directed (1659 in a British source) < classical Latin ōrdināre ordain v. + -bilis -ble suffix; in sense 1 apparently after ordain v. Compare Old French ordenable (c1300), Middle French ordonable (c1370), French ordonnable.
