Compare post-classical Latin auriculare pillow (early 9th cent.; a1100, c1360 in British sources; c1323 in a British source as orriale).The form oreylle perhaps ultimately reflects an error for Anglo-Norman and Middle French oreiller; the form oreiller is more usual in modern works on Heraldry.
