释义

Compare French oschéo- (formations in which are found from the second half of the 19th cent.).Perhaps a figurative use of ὀσχή (also ὤσχη ) branch of a vine with its grapes, or perhaps < a prefix ὀ- + σχεῖν , aorist of ἔχειν to hold (see Hector n.). Combining with second elements ultimately of Greek origin. Attested earliest in the early 18th cent. in oscheocele.
