A member of a 16th-century group of German Protestants who followed Andreas Osiander in arguing that justification should not be understood as a process of being declared righteous by God acting as a judge, but rather as an infusion of Christ's divine nature into the believer. Obsolete.The argument was, on account of its implications for Christology and atonement theory, rejected in the Lutheran Formula of Concord (1577).
