Etymology: < post-classical Latin organalis relating to music (10th cent. in vox organalis organal voice) < classical Latin organum organ n.1 + -ālis -al suffix1. In sense 1 probably via Italian organale (Florio, 1598; now rare). Compare earlier organal adj.1
