Etymology: < Hindi oṛhnī < oṛhnā covering, long woman's mantle (compare oṛhnā to cover) + -ī , suffix forming diminutives. In quot. 1678 via French †orni (1676 in the passage translated).The form ohrni probably originated as an error.
