释义 | ottava riman. Prosody. A form of poetry consisting of stanzas of eight lines of ten or eleven syllables rhyming abababcc. Cf. octave n.2 2a.The Italian stanza, used by Boccaccio, Ariosto, Tasso, etc., standardly has eleven syllables and had an iambic variant called endecasillabo. In English, the iambic form, most notably in Byron's Don Juan, is more typical.
