Compare post-classical Latin Ottonianus (mid 19th cent.), German ottonisch, adjective (1776 or earlier designating the dynasty, 1676 or earlier referring to any person named Otto).With plural noun use compare post-classical Latin Ottones (968 denoting the first two emperors, co-reigning at the time, 1014 denoting all three), German Ottonen, name of the dynasty (1795 or earlier).
