Etymology: Cognate with or formed similarly to Middle Dutch utesenden (Dutch uitzenden ), Old Saxon ūtsendian (Middle Low German ūtsenden ), Middle High German ūzsenden (German aussenden ), Old Swedish utsända < the Germanic base of out- prefix + the Germanic base of send v.1 Compare to send out at send v.1 Phrasal verbs.
Now rare (chiefly poetic).
