Etymology: < overcall v.
1. Bridge An act or instance of bidding higher than a previous bid; a bid which is higher than a previous bid (esp. the opening bid of one's opponents). Cf. overcall v.Because a bid must always be higher than the one preceding it, the term overcall is generally used to draw attention to a particularly significant bid.
