1884 G. Bower in Trans. Soc. Engin. 1883 59 The coating consists of a film of magnetic oxide, and is produced directly by the Barff process, and indirectly by the joint process of the author and his son. So long as these were worked independently, the one was called the Barff, the other the Bower process; but now that the various English patents are in the hands of one company, they are worked together and the process is called the Bower-Barff process.
