Origin: Either (i) formed within English, by derivation. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: palpus n.; Latin palpus , -gerous comb. form.
Etymology: < palpus n. or its etymon post-classical Latin palpus + -gerous comb. form. Compare French palpigère (1834). Compare later palpiger n.
Entomology. Now rare.
Having or bearing palps, esp. labial palps. Cf. palpiferous adj.
