Etymology: < classical Latin Pāgānālia village festival ( < pāgānus of the country (see pagan n. and adj.) + -ālia , neuter plural of -ālis -al suffix1) + -an suffix. Compare paganals n.
Roman History. rare.
Of or relating to the Paganalia, an annual Roman festival celebrated in each pagus or village community.

1870 Appleton's Jrnl. 31 Dec. 797/2 Christmas-gifts had their origin in the Roman Paganalia... Aubrey speaks of a pot in which Roman coins were found, and supposed to be one of these Paganalian vessels.
