释义 | pantatypen. Printing. rare. Now historical. A method of printing designed to allow impressions of engravings to be made in the same way as impressions of type, using metal relief blocks instead of woodcuts.Invented by Charles, third Earl Stanhope (1753–1816) in 1803, this system was intended to enable large numbers of impressions to be made without any loss of quality; it was, however, never developed for practical use.
