Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin parallelivenosus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin parallelivenosus (1815 in Mirbel) < classical Latin parallēlos parallel adj. + vēnōsus (see venous adj.). Compare French paralleliveiné (1815 in Mirbel). N.E.D. (1904) indicates the stress as ˌparalleliˈvenous.
Botany and Entomology. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Of a leaf, or an insect's wing: having parallel veins.
