Etymology: < classical Latin parapēgma and its etymon Hellenistic Greek παράπηγμα parapegma n. Compare French parapegme (1750 in sense 3). N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (pærăpe·gmă) /pærəˈpɛɡmə/.
